We have work sessions on Saturdays in the workshop
in the basement of the Heights. We are currently rebuilding a Wurlitzer
6 rank unit chest to be used in the Main chamber.
Here we see chapter member James Blomberg using a
machine which covers 20 primary pneumatics at once. The primary
pneumatics are covered with a thin leather. The machine clamps all
the little pieces in place, with the proper spacing so it is easier
to attach the leather.
And after 4 cycles, we have 80 primary pneumatics. The
6 rank chest has around 378 primary and secondary pneumatics. One
for every pipe which sits on top of the chest.
Below are Kim and Lou. On this day we
find them cleaning the 378 pallet valves, which control the air to
the pipes.
Jim Halvorson is cutting strips of gasket leather that
they can be made into the gaskets for the 378 secondary pneumatics.
Here we see Jerry Orvold punching the holes in the
gaskets. The gaskets are glued to the secondary pneumatics, which
are then glued to the inside of the chest.
